Group Camp May 2013

Hessle Scout Group holds an annual collective camp where the young people from the 2 cub packs, the Scout troop and the Explorer unit have the opportunity to socialise and participate in activities together.

2013 saw our return to the local site, Raywell. This year’s camp had a Medieval theme. Everyone “crusaded” towards Raywell from Melton Bottom, walking in crusader tunics and flying flags. The weekend activities included jousting (grass sledging), storming the castle (climbing wall), medieval archery and running the gauntlet (assault course). In the afternoon, the cubs took part in a jousting tournament in the moat of our castle built by 2 of our pioneering expert leaders. Despite the freezing cold water, spirits ran high! The evening was rounded off with everyone in medieval costumes enjoying a hog roast banquet and a camp fire with singing!
Thank You to Ian & Charlotte for organising the camp
