Disability Awareness Badge

on

The beginning of the night this week started off by congratulating our District Quiz team on placing first! Then we started work on our Disability Awareness Activity Badge.

The Beavers spent most of the night in silence to try and understand what it is like for people who can’t speak, and have to use other ways to communicate.

They learnt the Beaver Scout Promise and how to spell their names, in sign language. Also they took it in turns to guide a fellow beaver through an obstacle course blindfolded to understand the difficulties blind people face in everyday life.

At the end of night because they’d been so could keeping quiet lots of badges were awarded including; Friendship Challenge, Emergency Aid 1, Hikes, Explore Activity Badge and the Scouting World War memorial badge named ‘Lest We Forget’. We hope to see these on their nice smart uniforms for Remembrance Day Parade to show everyone what we do at Beavers.
