CHRISTMAS CLIMBING

Beavers had great fun in the bouldering rooms at Rock City for their Christmas party.  The excited shouts of ‘this is brilliant’ sum up an excellent evening.

SWIMMING UP THE RIVER

Well done to Freddie and Seth who swam up the final part of the Beaver river, and were then invested into Cherokee Cubs.  GSL Paul also presented Seth with his final Beaver badges, and his Chief Scout Bronze Award.

Messages of Remembrance

WELTON WATERS

Cherokee Cubs had a brilliant morning at Welton Waters completing their Nautical Skills badge.  They went on sailing boats and canoes, jumped in the water and played lots of team water games.  Thanks to all the staff at Welton Waters for sharing their expertise.

CHIEF SCOUT BRONZE AWARD

Congratulations to Freddie and Alfie who have been awarded their Chief Scout Bronze Award, having achieved all their Challenge badges, as well as an armful of activity and staged badges.  They have now both started their swim up the river to Cubs.

CYCLING THE HUMBER

Beavers completed their cyclist badge in perfect weather.  We cycled from the Humber Bridge Car Park over to the bridge tower on the south bank of the Humber and back.  Thanks to all the parents that joined us to make the trip possible.

CHIEF SCOUT SILVER AWARD

Hessle & 1st Laceby Beavers Blastoff!

Bronze Chief Scout Award

Congratulations to Sam on achieving his Bronze Chief Scout Award, presented to him by our GSL Paul.  During his time in Beavers Sam has also been awarded 19 of the 20 activity badges available to Beavers as well as 7 different staged badges – quite an achievement in 2 years!

Cherokee Cubs Shield

Congratulations to Ethan who was presented with the Cherokee Cubs Shield for being the most helpful Cub at the It’s Christmas Camp 2017.    

ROCK UP!

Beavers had a great time at Rock-up for their Christmas treat.  Up and down the walls several times, with no fear at all!  We also waved farewell to Sam and Charlotte as they swam up the river to Arapaho Cubs.  

NATIVITY WITH A TWIST

CHEROKEE DIY

Cherokee Cubs had a great weekend at Bail Wood Campsite, near Aldbrough.  Whilst there they completed their DIY badge in Baloo’s pop up workshop!  They made bird boxes, welly boot removers and catapults, and were even inventive with the off cuts of wood from the above, making them into Christmas bells to decorate the scout…

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust

Last weekend some members of Apache Scouts and Cherokee Cubs attended the first of the Backyard Wildlife Workshops run by Anna from the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.  An excellent morning making bird boxes and bird food.  Looking forward to the next workshop on Saturday building hedgehog houses and painting tyre planters to brighten up the garden…

Splish Splash!

Beavers had fun team games with water this week.  First they had to build their own ballista, and then got to fire water bombs at each other.  That was followed by pass the cup of water down the lodge and transfer the water with a sponge.  All great fun and they didn’t go home too…

End of Term Fun

Explorers have completed the term playing ten pin bowling and pool (with maybe a bit of cheating!)  Enjoy the summer and good luck to those awaiting exam results.

BEAVER CYCLISTS

It was a perfect night to be out on our bikes, and we’re really proud of all the Beavers for doing their best when cycling to North Ferriby and back.  Big thank you to all the parents that joined us too, making sure that no-one ended up in the river!  

HESSLE FEAST

A great big well done to everyone that helped with litter picking at Hessle Feast.  We collected twenty three bags of rubbish between us, which was brilliant.  We also worked with the Coop promoting their membership scheme and the local community fund (which we are recipients of at the moment), as well as cooking s’mores…
