Centenary Camp – 1st – 3rd June

This weekend the entire group has camped at Raywell for the centenary group camp. This camp has been funded by the Centenary Fund which the group has been fundrasing for over the last 5 years. The theme for the weekend was pirates.

All those attending walked from Melton Bottom to Raywell on the Friday night. This was done in anticipation of a peaceful night, however the group to go to sleep were up until 3am, despite numerous requests from leaders to go to sleep! The camp woke at 7am to blue skies and sunshine and following a hearty breakfast the activities commenced. These included archery, air riffle shooting, grass sledging, assault course, rock climbing and pirates corner. After lunch the whole group took part in a “gladiator” style duel in the purpose built pirate pool. Good time was had by all, including leaders and adult helpers. After fish and chips from NepJunes fish and chips shop the days activities concluded with a centenary campfire and sing-a-long.

A wet start on sunday but this did not curb the enthusiasm for the days activities. everyone took part in 3 bases; Japanese Braiding, mini pioneering and air riffle shooting. Following lunch parents started to arrive to take their damp, muddy, exhausted but happy little campers home.
